Rittagraf offers a professional service for manufacturing custom polymer plates for letterpress and relief printing. This service is designed for stamping raised images, similar to what would be done with a Minerva, Adana, proof puller, block printing press, or even a well-calibrated etching press. These plates can also be manually printed by applying pressure with a Baren or a clean rubber roller. These plates are very durable and allow for high levels of pressure to achieve embossing if desired.
Rittagraf only works with high-quality Japanese polymers - Toyobo - which have been treated according to the handling and storage instructions required for the material. For each service, we choose the plate reference that offers the best performance for the desired application. For polymers that will be printed in relief and require great durability, we recommend working withsteel-based solar plates with a thickness of 0.95 or 0.73 mm. The depth and thickness of the polymer in a Toyobo KM95 plate are 0.65 mm.
We recommend printing these plates with the same ink used for embossed printing, but oil-based letterpress inks or offset inks are perfect for this purpose. These plates are processed with water, so it is advisable to clean them with special oils, always avoiding cleaning with water or alcohol.
This service is offered as standard in 3 DIN sizes, but for other sizes, please request information by contacting info@rittagraf.com.
